Accounting resume for India — Tally, GST, and articleship

Accounts, audit, and tax hiring in India still looks for tools and compliance language a parser can read: Tally, GST returns, Excel, and the type of books you touched.

What to list on an accounting CV

State the work: book-keeping, GST filings, TDS, payroll, statutory audit, or MIS. Name Tally (or Busy, SAP FI) only if you used it. Articleship belongs under Experience with the firm name, city, and Month Year dates — not as a vague “CA student” line with no duties.

Freshers should put internships, articleship, and a short skills line first. Qualified or semi-qualified candidates should lead with roles and keep education short. Stay on a professional ATS template for Big Four and corporate portals.

CA, CMA, and commerce graduates

Do not paste the entire IPCC syllabus. Name the papers or domain only if they match the JD (indirect tax, statutory audit). Commerce graduates without articleship should use a fresher resume: Excel, internships, and college projects with real numbers (invoices processed, reconciliations).

Upload an old Word file into the online resume maker, strip tables, and check the A4 preview. Naukri still drops two-column files. Download PDF or Word from ₹99 when the page is tight.

Accounting resume questions

Tally, GST, articleship, and parse-safe accounts CVs.

Should I put my CA rank or attempt count?

Rank can help. Listing many failed attempts does not. Keep education to degree, institution, and year unless the posting asks for more.

Is Tally enough as a skills section?

Tally plus GST, Excel, and the books you handled is enough. A screenshot of a Tally menu does not belong on an ATS resume.
