Mechanical engineer resume for core, manufacturing, and plant roles

Core recruiters look for tools and plant proof, not a generic “engineering graduate” line. Keep the file single-column so Naukri can still read your job titles.

What a mechanical engineer resume should show

Name the domain: design, production, quality, maintenance, HVAC, or automotive. List tools as text (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, GD&T, SAP PM) only if you used them. Shop-floor internships need 3–5 bullets: machine or line, your task, and a result (downtime, yield, cycle time) if you have one.

Freshers should lead with projects and a fresher resume order. Do not invent a “senior engineer” title. GATE or internships go in Education or a short extra section — not as a skills dump.

Core jobs vs an IT switch

If you are applying to core plants, keep CAD and manufacturing language. If you are switching to software, do not hide the mechanical degree — add a honest skills line and follow the software engineer resume checklist for the tech half. Either way, use an ATS template with Month Year dates and no tables.

Mechanical engineer resume questions

Core tools, shop-floor proof, and ATS-safe engineering CVs.

Should I attach CAD drawings in the resume PDF?

No. ATS tools mishandle images. Put a portfolio or Drive link as text if the work is shareable.

Is a photo expected on a mechanical engineer CV?

Not for most private-sector core jobs. Skip it unless the employer asks.
